Aluminium Loop: A Sustainable Recycling Initiative
Aluminium Loop is on a mission to build, drive and scale the world’s most sustainable recycling loop through the creation of an extensive public-private partnership to advance aluminium beverage packaging and Thailand’s circular economy. Aluminium Loop has partnered with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Foundation for Sustainable Resource Management (3R), Mahidol University, and key industry players like Thai Beverage Can Ltd., UACJ (Thailand) Co., Ltd., Anglo Asia Trading Co., Ltd., and Thai Beverage Recycle Co., Ltd., to ensure that aluminium packaging is actually recycled into its most sustainable form, to find opportunities to innovate and improve infrastructure that will enable long term sustainability.
Strategically based in Thailand, Aluminium Loop operates a 400 km closed loop recycling network. This efficient system reduces freight costs, shortens recycling times, and provides just-in-time supply while leveraging Thailand’s high collection rate. With over one billion successful recycling cycles, Aluminium Loop sets a benchmark for global sustainability.
Our aluminum packaging recycling is an infinitely repeatable closed loop system. This means that aluminium cans or bottles that join the Aluminium Loop initiative will be recycled into cans and bottles without any degradation and therefore can participate in the same closed loop endlessly.
This approach enables us to drastically reduce the use of newly mined aluminium, reduces the energy used to create aluminium cans and bottles by up to 95% and lowers greenhouse gas emissions. By contrast, open-loop recycling repurposes materials into different products, often requiring more resources and energy or limiting the repeatability of the recycling process.

The Aluminium Loop process is fully traceable and transparent. We understand the vast amount of misinformation especially when it comes to sustainability and greenwashing. We hope to combat this and build trust among our partners. Therefore, we guarantee that all our products are actually recycled, fully tracible and with the appropriate checks and balances. We do this by recycling more cans than we put out. We also have a tracking system that is separately administered by all of Aluminium Loop’s partners.
