Aluminium Loop Participates in 'PackBack in Action Year 3: Joining Forces to Advance PROVE: The Drive for EPR in Thailand'

On 2 October 2024, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), through the Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, represented by the Pollution Control Department, organized the event “PackBack in Action Year 3: Joining Forces to Advance PROVE: The Drive for EPR in Thailand,” along with a declaration of intent to drive EPR implementation. The event took place at Plenary Hall, 1st Floor, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, as part of the Sustainability Expo (SX) 2024.

The event featured key speakers, including Chayanan Pakdeejit, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, discussing “Government Policies for Advancing EPR in Thailand”; Kriengkrai Thiennukul, President of FTI, delivering a presentation on “FTI’s Efforts to Propel EPR in the Industrial Sector”; Kosit Suksingha, Chairman of TIPMSE, sharing progress on EPR under the PackBack project for sustainable packaging recovery; and Dr. Wijarn Simachaya, Chairman of PPP Plastic, presenting sustainable plastic management projects.

Aluminium Loop, under the Aluminium Closed Loop Packaging System initiative, played a key role in demonstrating the collection and recycling of aluminium cans into new cans in a closed-loop cycle, supporting the principles of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). This initiative aims to promote responsible management of aluminium packaging in the future.

This year, 48 new organizations joined the PackBack network, bringing the total to 149 organizations collaborating to advance EPR implementation in Thailand.
